The Stand on Guard Project was created to honour veterans and first responders – those who have fought for our freedom, and those who continue to put themselves in harm’s way to protect us. The idea is to celebrate together the freedom that we often take for granted. The song itself features the world-renowned St. Michael’s Choir School as well as talented musicians providing military drums, both Irish and Scottish bagpipes, guitar, brass and keyboards. Together the song creates a category of its own which can best be described as Patriot Rock. The opening makes the listener believe they are sending their young men and women off to battle (afar and at home) and ends with them coming home victorious, keeping us strong and free. The song is a big part of this project, with lyrics in both English and French. Beyond the song, there is a YouTube video and a website (standonguardproject.com) which invites visitors to enjoy stories about veterans and contribute their own photos and stories. The hope is that this site will become a resource for those studying war, or the lives of veterans and first responders. The majority of proceeds from sale of this song are in support of True Patriot Love and Wounded Warriors Canada.
