tempting murphy - everything's eventual
Centered on the songs of veteran songwriter Neil Bennett, with acoustic guitars blending with the cello stylings of Irina Grunberg, tempting murphy’s sound is a wonderful blend of folk, roots, and pop music sounding classic but contemporary at the same time. Bennett’s musical roots go back to the halcyon folk era of London, Ontario in the 70’s and 80’s where he played alongside such folk luminaries as Valdy and David Bradstreet. He loves the craft of songwriting, blending music and poetry to make statements and observations about life, love and all of the struggles, the triumphs, the joy, the tragedy and yes the comedy of our daily existence on this planet. Grunberg’s roots are in classical music but she loves the challenge of playing alongside Bennett adding layers and atmosphere to his musical creations.
Everything's Eventual is tempting murphy's first full length recording. From the jazz inflected rhythms of the title track, the layered guitars and driving beat of "Oblivion', through the haunting cello-based sounds of 'Under the Same Moon', the album shows a remarkable diversity of styles and feeling.
